The Diversity Leadership Awards seek to recognize University staff members who display leadership in fostering diversity both on campus and within the surrounding community and to highlight, in concert with the University of Chicago Board of Governors, the contributions of alumni who advance the cause of justice and equality in our community and society.

President Zimmer in the University's Diversity Statement states:
“A commitment to diversity is central to our mission of discovery ... We have an obligation to see that the greatest variety of perspectives is brought to bear on the issues before us as scholars and citizens. We therefore celebrate our tradition of inclusion and recognize that our success as an institution depends on its ongoing renewal.”
Please support the University’s Diversity Statement by nominating a staff member or an alumna/us for a 2012 Diversity Leadership Award. In doing so, you help recognize those who fulfill our obligation to promote a University and society characterized by inclusiveness and diversity.
Any University of Chicago/University of Chicago Medical Center employee in good standing (non academic) or / and alumna/us of College, Divisions, or Professional Schools may be nominated. Current faculty, other academic personnel, and students are not eligible.
Anyone may nominate an eligible candidate for the award. Self-nominations are permitted.
Please write a letter of nomination that includes:
